Saint-Gobain wanted to create a Christmas themed social media initiative to help them (1) engage directly with employees and external audiences and (2) increase their UK and Irish facebook followers. They turned to Fabrick to help them deliver this within a tight timescale.

The Solution:

To encourage user engagement and help grow the number of followers and likes for Saint-Gobain’s Facebook page, a competition was created and delivered in the form of an online advent calendar.

Images of twenty four well-known, worldwide buildings for which Saint-Gobain had provided product solutions were provided. Each day a small part of the building was shown with a selection of answers, with users encouraged to like the Facebook page, guess the building and submit their entry.

Each day a winner was randomly selected and announced on the Facebook page, receiving a £25 high street shopping voucher. To support the campaign, the design of the Facebook page was changed to reflect the visuals and its accompanying marketing material.

The campaign was promoted via Facebook and directly to staff via internal communication channels as well as via other social media channels including Twitter.

The Results:

  • The campaign was a huge success with follower numbers significantly increased
  • Over 500 new followers in just four weeks
  • 1,170 likes – the campaign generated an average of nearly 50 likes per day
  • 9.64% engagement
  • 1,406 stories were created using the content generated during the campaign by 1,236 users
